• Tire Pé (Hélène and David Barrault)

Hélène and David Barrault founded Château Tire Pé in 1997 after a long search for the perfect spot to start their own winery. When they found this piece of land overlooking the Garonne, 23 kilometers east of Sauternes, it was rundown but had the one most crucial criteria – a terroir of limestone and clay with a gentle slope. They rehabilitated the land and were certified organic in 2011. In addition, they are part of a group called ‘Contains Sulfites, mais pas trop,’ (but not too much), a small band of like-minded producers that use sulfur but in minimal quantities and only when absolutely necessary. Tire Pé – “Diem” Bordeaux
    100% Merlot
Limestone and clay soil | Native yeasts | Fermentation and aging in cement tank
Each cuvée is made from a singular plot of land. The Barraults believe that even in the simple Bordeaux AOC, there are variances in terroir that require their own expression. However, they also want their wines to be accessible to all. The Diem, with its bright cherry and blackberry fruit is just that. Tobacco leaf and bramble round out the palate. Perfect for a picnic or BBQ.
