Return to Terroir to Host Trade Tasting, May 14 at Bar Tartine
Skype Interviews with producers in Italy and France Planned Throughout Event

WHAT: Now in its fourth year, Return to Terroir is proud to host its annual tasting at Bar Tartine featuring selections from all of its 33 producers. Since March, the portfolio has included new wines from France and for the first time, Italy.
Philippe Pacalet of Domaine Pacalet in Burgundy, Marina Marcarino from Punset in Barbaresco and Eric Bonnet of La Bastide Saint Dominique in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. will be Skyped in at different times so attendees can participate in mini-seminars with the winemakers themselves. San Francisco Examiner wine columnist, Pamela Busch, will facilitate the discussion. A schedule with the time slots will be available closer to the tasting date.
Founded by Raphael Knapp in 2009, Return to Terroir works with up and coming producers who use minimal intervention both in the vineyard and winery. Many of the wineries are Ecocertified and seven are biodynamic. Included in the latter category is Château Tour Grise in Saumur, which is owned by Philippe Gourdon, one of the most influential figures in the biodynamic movement.
Several vignerons are from winemaking families like Domaine Habrard in Crôzes- Hermitage while others were ignited purely by a passion for wine. Toby Bainbridge, an English ex-pat and Rene Moss protégé, is one such chap, now out on his own making outstanding, unique wines from old vine Grolleau in the Loire Valley.
All producers will be represented in both wine and spirit. And of course, Bar Tartine will provide delicious snacks to accompany the tasting.
